Students often sense what is unspoken.
Long before we begin a lecture or open a discussion, the atmosphere in the room has already been set—not by our PowerPoint slides or our reading lists, but by the subtle current of feeling that accompanies us through the door. Every classroom is a field of quiet perception. Students notice the quickness of our breath, the hesitation before we speak, the distracted glance at our notes. They perceive what we are trying to hide as clearly as what we are ready to share.
